Here is a great egret taken in Misery, or however you pronounce it (sorry for any offense, that's just how it is said anywhere I have ever lived).

I took this one at Squaw Creek NWR. A great place, deserving of much more time than the day I spent there. I could have enjoyed an entire year.

What a beautiful reflection! I'd remove that little "smudge" bottom right, but otherwise gorgeous!

Lea,

Thanks for the kind remarks and tip. I'll try a couple of things on that "smudge".

Terry,

Thanks, I tried very hard to control the highlights. You should see some of the other shots of these birds, blown out! It was very bright overhead sun.

Again, thanks

Cool shot and reflection. I agree with the other's comments - a difficult subject to expose for and you did great here, and the smudges do draw my eyes away from the subject. Nonetheless, fabulous shot.

If you ever want to see thousands of the Snowy Egrets, check out Avery Island in South West Louisiana. It's the home of the Tabasco hot sauce factory and they have a nature preserve called Jungle Gardens. The owner of Tabasco set up an area years ago when these birds were almost extinct, and now hundreds of thousands of them return each year to nest on the sanctuary!!

It was amazing to see so many in one spot. I tried to catch this one while flying back to it's nest

Great shot by the way!!
