This is a great picture! Having spent alot of time around mules, I know his expression definitely portrays his feelings at the end of a long day! Nothing like the pure bliss of a dirt bath!!!

Pat,

It's always fun to watch them rolling in the dirt. It seems like hoofed animals and dogs get the most enjoyment out of it.

My granddaughter used to ride this white horse and every time she gave it a bath and then turned it out, it had to take a roll in the dirt.

That's a "white" horse???

My dog would NEVER roll in dirt...

Actually, he prefers dead things, but in this case flowers will do! I wish the picture was a little better, but it was getting dark, and I had actually put my camera away when all of a sudden he flopped down in front of me and started rolling in the flowers. I started snapping pictures without even thinking about my settings ~ whoops!! He is always being called a horse...maybe he is pretending!

He's beautiful...in both pictures! I had a little Egyptian Arabian when I was in high school that was about that color, and he was the same way. The instant he was turned into his pasture he went and rolled. He was clean on show days and that was about it!

That mule does have a big smile---no doubt about it. Nice photo :D

Now our big dog likes to roll in the dirt and in smelly things like dead birds, but sometimes he just likes to roll on his back and, well we call him Mr. Stressed.
