Going to Egypt in December

I am realizing a long time dream of going to Luxor and the Karnak Temple for a full on HDR binge.
Does anybody have any advice? Like the use of tripods? Where not to go, etc? I'm going solo, light and fast.

I just "planned" a trip to egypt for school(though sadly it was an assignment only.). But still, I'd love to actually go one day. Visit Alexandria and Giza.
anyway. sorry, inless you want advice on food and stuff, i can't help ya with the photo side of it. But let me know how you protect the camera from sand - cause if i ever go i'll need to know that. hahaha.
