Archery

Postby Pokie » Sun Aug 10, 2008 5:21 pm

A couple of pics from the 4H archery tournament earlier this year.

I used telephoto to compress the foreground/background.
I wanted the shooter to be sharp, but the target only to be sharp enough to be recongizable.
Was trying not to have the target compete with the shooter for attention in the pic.
What do you think - would you have gone for all sharp?
When I went with a portrait orientation to get the whole bow in the picture, I lose the subject - the bow is as tall as the boy and I end up with a frame full of nothing.
I may be too close to the picture to judge - is it still recognizable as a bow when I come in this close?

I like both shots, and the only thing I could think to make the first shot a bit better would be to have moved over a bit to see a bit more of the bullseye

But in all honesty, anyone would know what the shooter is aiming at, so it's a spot on image!!

Thanks!
I was limited to this view, more or less, though I might have been able to move a tiny bit one way or the other.
This target is actually one target to the left of the one my son was shooting at.
To show his target would mean only showing the back of his head.
Don't remember why, but I couldn't get him lined up with the 2nd target to the left, where I could have seen more of a profile.
