Winter Snowdrops

Postby Edd » Mon Feb 09, 2009 3:23 pm

Hi All,

I suppose following on from my workflow thread I have had a go at this image I shot the other day. These flowers are now under several inches of snow which is unusual here in the UK.

I had a go in the Raw Converter and tried to add a slight blue tint to the snow using the WB just try try to make the image feel a little colder.

Using Levels I have lightened the image then used USM for sharpening.

Curious to hear your comments and feed back.

Edd,
I think I might have used a flash or reflector of some type. The first picture seems a little dark, or maybe it's my monitor. jk

Hi JK,

Thanks for that. :D :D

I agree the photo isn't as light as it should really be, but unfortunately the only flash I have is the one mounted on the camera. I used a set of tubes to get me a little closer to the flower and did think the light from the flash would just pass straight over the top of the subject. I did consider making a make-shift reflector with tin foil seeing that I don't have any reflectors. Infact now I really regret not at least trying that.

Next time I will try both, I feel a bit of a mug for not at least trying out these options.

Thanks for th advice

Ed

Well if you have photoshop or other editing software, you could very easily use a brighten tool and draw over the stem and bud of the flower and see how that looks

Thanks guys, :D :D

I'm finding it a little difficult to do the post processing and keep over doing it in certain areas.

I'm slowly learning and need more practise, but I suppopse it will come eventually.
