New Canon Models scheduled for April release

Other than a few more Point & Shoot, Canon is releasing the new version of their Rebel, the XSI, which sports a new 12 Megapixel sensor and Digic III processor. Release date is for April. Price is pretty moderate at $799 body only and $899 with 18-55 IS lens.

Rumor has it that the 6D will be announced next month.

Thanks for posting the link!

Just looking thru that info there, I may have to take a look at those when they come out. I still need to get some better lenses first, but the big thing I'm interested in is the upgraded A/D converter as I've had some problems with my rebel capturing those subtle hues and such in sunsets. Of course, that 3" LCD would be nice too!

I do find it interesting that they've gone with the SD format for the memory cards though...hmmmm. I have to wonder if Canon is going to be working towards abandoning the CF cards considering they seem to be getting a little harder to find compared with SD's. I hope not...I went thru that once already when I had gotten my old Olympus C-4000 right when Smart Media cards were being phased out...that would suck if the same thing happened with CF cards.

Anyways, again thanks for sharing that...I look forward to checking them out when they hit the stores!

Peace,
Jim

The XSI is considered an entry-level SLR, so aimed for the most part at people who had a point & click. Since P&C cameras use SD cards Canon must have figured out that it was easier for people to upgrade if it offered the same slot.
CF cards offer much more space right now and space is required for professional photographers so I think they'll stick to CF for now or use double slots like in the EOS1 series.
