Forgive me if this isn't the proper forum but here goes. I have a Nikon D40X and I set up the camera on a tripod to use the remote so I can have the camera close to the hummingbird feeder. It's a generic remote - not the ML-L3. The camera is set to recognize the remote in the menu....but I can only fire one shot and the camera reverts back to the default settings I have set up. Is it not possible to fire off a burst of shots with this remote?? Or am I just that clueless to understanding th manaul. Thanks a bunch!

I'm not a Nikonian, but looking at the review on DPReview, it looks like there are a couple of functions that control the remote settings.
Function 4 (shooting mode) and function 17 (remote duration). Here's a link to the site:http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/NikonD40X/page11.asp
Hope this helps,
