Thanks for the review and the pics - looks like you had a great trip!
I've been considering this lens for a couple of months.
I've got a lousy wide angle setup that has horrible aberrations, color fringes, vignetting, etc.
I don't have the cash to drop on the Nikon, especially since my list also includes a carbon fiber tripod, a macro lens, etc. etc. etc.
From your review, and from Ken Rockwell's review it doesn't look like I'm giving anything up.
