Tamron (28-300) vs. (18-270) zoom

Postby DanZinn » Sat May 23, 2009 7:54 am

I bought the (28-300) zoom about 8 months ago and have had great results. I noticed that since December Tamron has been only promoting the (18-270) zoom. Has the (28-300) fallen out of favor? - Dan

The newer lens the 18-270 is for cropped sensor cameras only as I understand it.

My 28-300 is currently on it's way to the most local Tamron Authorized repair center to be rechipped. Apparantly the earlier production models of this lens..purchased in Augst of 08 had a funky chip problem that caused a lack of communication with the camera early on in the lenses lifespan. My lens lasted for about two months before the chip went wacky.
