Not all RAW files are the same - even in the same format

Here are some things I had to learn the hard way.

Not all RAW files can be opened and processed by photo-editing software. My Canon 30D records in RAW (*.CR2) format but not all Canon .CR2 RAW files are the same. Even if the software says you can edit .CR2 RAW images, it depends on which Canon camera ( megapixel size ) made the image. It will take some time before updates include newer camera formats.

Not all software packages include an update option. MS Digital Image Suite 2006 doesn’t include an option for updates or upgrades. Corel does have an option for updating their Paint Shop Pro 9 but there is no update for the 30D, yet.

Not all Customer Service / technical support is the same. Microsoft's C.S. routes you to India and just gives you a canned answer only vaguely related to your problem. You can't write to their Washington state headquarters for American technical support unless you have the name of someone in the address. What options are left except to buy a newer software package?

try updating the ACR file from adobe. its free. ACR is short for adobe Camera Raw. Adobe updates this file as fast as they can when a new camera comes out. ACR can be found here.
