Tripods

I have a cheap tripod currently. Need to find one that will hold a Nikon D40x and lens. Currently just have the 18-135mm. Hopefully will be adding others to the mix, but want a tripod that can handle the weight. Don't want to break the bank but want one that I can put the camera at eye level or down low for macro. Have seen some that have a center column that moves all over the place - kind of cool. Nothing too heavy but have some beef to it. Which head is multi purpose? Thanks for the input!

Probably in the 200 range. Winter's coming and the fuel guy (who now rides with armed security LOL) will want to be paid. I also want to get a new lens so, I am just starting to research. I maybe dreaming that I can get a solid tripod for that but it's worth getting some input. Thanks!

Hey JK,
hard to find a tripod with the specs you mentioned for that price range. Mine set me back $450 with the ballhead. I keep my eyes open and let you know if I come across something. Check Adorama and BHphotovideo meanwhile.

Adorama has a used Bogen 3021 with an Arca Swiss ballhead for $199.
