Tripod to take Backpacking?

Postby lauratov » Sat Dec 12, 2009 1:29 pm

Hi all,

I am not a camera expert, my fiance is. He likes to take panos using a tripod, a pano head, and a Nikon D300 (I think).

He currently has a cheaper heavier tripod, and me and his sisters want to pitch in to buy him a nice light tripod that he will be able to backpack with and take panos for Christmas.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Laura

Check out any of the Carbon Fiber models that are very light weight and easy to pack along while hiking

Most of the big names in Tripods make a few of these models, but watch out, they can be pricey.

Best bet is to know how heavy his set-up is when its all set up. That will tell you which model to start looking for depending on what the weight limits are
