Extension Tubes or Converters ?????

(Actually I don't know the difference or if these are the same things, can anyone help us ???? :? :? )

I have a set of extension tubes that bought from a store called "Jessops", a photographic equipment shop, they work with both my Canon and Tameron lenses. I would image they should as its the fitting that is important. As long as your tube/converter connects okay to your camera then your lense should attach to it I guess.

Hope this helps.

sorry i ment TELE convertor, but the diferance is extenson tube help for like macro so you can focus closer, and a tele converter magnifys the lens.

Some teleconverters extend too far and will not work physically work with certain lenses. I don't know of a compatibility listing for Tamron lenses. Here's a list of TC's and the features that I copied from P.O.T.N. that might give you some insight. I would choose a Kenko TC over the Tamron. I'd try to get a non-reporting one if possible so you could use it with lenses where the resultant aperture is smaller that f/5.6.

I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure my Tamron TC would work with my EF-S lens. It is longer than my Sigma TC's and doesn't have a protruding element at the bottom. I pretty sure some of the Kenko TCs are built the same way and I understand they give better results than the Tamrons. I know my Tamron isn't nearly as good as my Sigmas.

Mitchell,

I had some spare time today and decided to see if my Tamron would work with my EF-S lenses.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!

I don't have a Tamron TC! Mine is a Quantaray and I use it so rarely I had forgotten the brand name.

It will NOT work with my EF-S lenses. The portion that connects to the lens doesn't protrude as much as the Simgas
and while I can get it on, I can't tighten it.

I have heard people say their Kenkos work, but can't verify it or the Tamrons. Maybe someone that has one will
chime in and give us some confirmed info.
