Best Site for Equipment Reviews

Postby exminoltauser » Wed Jul 26, 2006 2:47 pm

What's the best source on the internet for digital camera reviews? I need a reliable source. Some of the so called "top" photography sites that come up first on Google are not reliable at all.

I always check DP Review http://www.dpreview.com for good, solid reviews. In fact, I've got an RSS feed on my google page to let me know when they release any new review.

I know about DP. DP is a top ranking photography site, but don't seem to have anything of their own. They copy and paste info on new digital cameras and equipment from the manufacturer's web sites. DP is a good place to see all the new arrivals in one place. As for their reviews :?:

I wonder why Nikon or Canon would choose some dude in Canada to be the first to run a review on their new top of the line camera :?: Why not have OP or POP photo magazines run the first reviews :?:

Just drag and drop one of the DP's "test shots" from most of their camera reviews into AcDsee and you'll notice the info on camera and other technical data are missing. I wonder why :?: This is not always the case. Some low end point and shoot models seem to have all the info untouched.
Anybody knows a good solid source for digital camera reviews :?:

Consumer Reports

Have you checked Consumer Reports for any reviews? I know they would test from a "consumer" point of view and not a "photographer" perspective but it may be worth it.

camera reviews

Just a thought. When I'm changing camera bodies, I have Nikon lenses, so I want to stay with Nikon bodies. (same goes for Canon, Minolta, etc.) I go to Nikon, search up digital slr bodies, and get the specifications. You can do the same thing with ebay. It will give you the specs, and you'll get a new body with warranty for a lot less money.
