Great Dane Having Fun!

Postby jmthompson » Mon Feb 23, 2009 5:45 pm

This isn't exactly a sport, but I wasn't sure where else to post it! My dog absolutely loves to go "snow sliding", and it was warm enough today to take him out for a while and let him indulge in his favorite wintertime activity! We have to learned to keep the hills extremely small (under 5 - 6 feet), because he can get extremely rambunctious, and those vet bills get expensive! If we get near a steep hill with snow on it, he has to be on a leash, because he will be on his back trying to slide down it! He is absolutely hilarious to watch, and I know this time of year cabin fever has a tendency to start to set in for alot of people, so I thought I would share in case anyone else could use a laugh!

I think a lesson could be learned from Tank about enjoying life to the fullest!!!! :D

That is too cute....to bad it can't be in a video format so we can view the action. My doggies used to crack me up as they played in the snow...their favorite was catching snowballs.

He is a snowball fanatic, too! My son torments him when he is shoveling snow off of our deck! This is just one more excuse to splurge for a Canon D5 Mark II for the HD video!!!!

My dog bulldozes snow, too. I'm not sure what the attraction is, she's also short-haired and I can't imagine she's cooling off, but who am I to say?

Thanks Peter, and welcome to the forum! Your Dane is beautiful as well! We just had to put down our Harlequin Dane a couple of months ago at the age of 12, and we still miss him terribly. He was a rescued dane and was such a wonderful dog! They both definitely get tired of my camera though! Tank never holds still long enough for a picture, and Dozer (our Harlequin) always looked like he was being punished! He had been horribly abused before we adopted him, so he didn't like to have anything pointed at him, but he eventually got used to it (after hundreds of pictures)!

I'm sorry for your loss Jana. They really are our children and no one should ever have to watch their child pass away.

Thanks so much, guys. My husband was a little bit surprised when I went to the Humane Society 10 years ago looking for our cat and came home with a beaten and starved Great Dane instead! But they were the same color, so I told him I just got a little confused (you know, blonde moment!). He was a great dog, and definitely got us hooked on Great Danes!

I am thrilled that every one of the dane pictures are taken at 'dog level'... too many people come to me with a dog photo to paint, and they're on a step ladder shooting down on their chihuahahauaha. Of course, with a great dane, you probably don't have to get down far! They're all spectacular. I want to see more. We need a pet page here since I am never sure where to post horse, dog or cat pictures. Under general??

I think a "pets in the outdoors" category would be a great idea!
