What else should I do

Postby peter nap » Thu Mar 05, 2009 3:16 am

I've spent most of the night playing with CS3. What else should I do to this picture?
Thanks!

I would:
cut the bottom off, where the lower snow part starts on the left side, so the water is at the bottom of the picture, but don't crop the light reflection. Sometimes the composition is overlooked...

Peter,

I hope you don't mind, but I copied your original pic and made a couple of adjustments. I cropped some of the bottom off, but left a little snow in the bottom left corner. I then cloned the lake to cover the snow in the corner. I then adjusted the levels (slid the left side over to meet the mid tones in the histogram). I also adjusted the saturation a little (I increased the saturation a little and lowered the brightness a little). The levels and saturation adjustments were to increase the contrast because it looked a little washed out. What do you think?

This is Peter's "small lake" pic that I edited.

Of course I don't mind Bob. Otter, thanks. You were right, I just couldn't figure out how to crop the shore and still leave the reflection and enough water and maintain an aspect ratio for an 8x10.

Bob, that's very good. I had thought about copying the water but thought it would leave a line. How did you do it and thanks!

Peter, I listed all my edits above the pic, but I cropped the image, leaving a little snow in the corner. I then used the clone tool and cloned the lake over the snow in the corner. I cloned the part of the lake with the reflection over the snow along that line.

Thank You again Bob!

The cloning was what I was referring to. I've never used the clone tool. I have always used the lasso and copied and pasted.

Now I have to go back to the original and see if I can make it come as well as you did.
