Into the heart of darkness

Postby Pokie » Fri Mar 13, 2009 6:45 pm

I got a "little" heavy handed with the sumi-e filter in Photoshop while working on some canoe pictures.
So once I had gone too far, I decided to go a little further.
I think that I've gone about as far as I can go on these.
Comments?

My thoughts/emotions are wrapped up in the caption on the bottom pic.
The pics brought back some memories of freshman lit from more than a few years ago.
Just realized that i clipped the word 'water' when cropping and shrinking,
but too lazy to fix now.

Thanks :D I'm really happy with them.
When you zoom in and look closely, there's really not much left of the original pictures - a lot of white space.

Here's the bad news - I can't recreate the effect, even using the same photographs.
I lost the files that had the layers still intact. All I have are the flattened files.
I have a good idea as to what I did, but can't duplicate. I wanted to do a 3rd picture to make a triptych (sp?), but can't make it work.

I like these, too... great mood! I like the first one (more b/w) best. Maybe a blue/indigo version? Too bad you lost your layered files... another example of how important it is to be careful and deliberate, even when doing free-form, expressive kinds of processing!
