Pricing. Help

Postby Mitchell » Wed Mar 18, 2009 5:06 pm

well recently i sent some pictures to the manager person for these cabins I clean, to put in one of the newer cabins that doesent have anything in it yet. She liked them so mutch that she is going to put them in the cabin AND wants me to take photo's of all the cabins (8) for them for advertising and stuff.

so i was wondering how mutch sould i charge? i was thinking like $250 or $300 per cabin.
and for the prints in the cabin will be 13X19 "matted, framed" so im thinking $100.
is this to high or low or what.

Congratulations on your deal! I am a non-pro, so I have no experience in selling photos. However, I have framed many of my shots for my home, office and for friends who liked them. If your artwork is hanging somewhere, you should have some say in how it will be framed, and you will probably want to sign the mat. You can negotiate that with the buyer. I wouldn't want my favorite pictures hanging in cheap frames. Custom matting and framing for a 13 x 19 picture from a reputable framer will run you more than $100 I'm sure. Check that out before pricing your work.

well i make the frames myself so that cuts the cost alot! and there pretty good quality..
we just take house trim then cut it and stain/gloss.
there pretty fun to make ..

but if that is how mutch custom frames cost then does that mean other people are charging alot more.. so sould i?

A custom frame with matte for a 13x19 would be about $150...not including the value you place on your images.

Give them to her at that price and have her do the framing. She will then say, "What will it cost to have YOU do the framing?" You then say, "$3,000 including framing" and she will say okay and then you have a deal.
