Jackson Hole Hill Climb and Freestyle

Postby gldiana » Sat Mar 28, 2009 7:37 pm

Like every year, the time has come for Jackson Hole Hill Climb competition which also include a freestyle show. Racers have to climb Snowking Mountain (the steepest ski area in America), lot of them roll down the slope. To start, I have a few photos from the freestyle event that is taking place as I write (I shot a few and came home, it just happens behind my house).
I had to shoot between 1000 and 1600 ISO with the 50D as the show happens in the evening:

This one is from this afternoon, the Hill Climb. Notice the snowmobile caught by the net and the driver (pointed by the arrow) sliding on the right.

First off I must say these people are certifiably nuts.
With that out of the way, the top photo looks like he's hanging on to a giant shoe :D Very cool!

Great pictures...I was really hoping you would be posting some! We had every intention of making it over this year, and then they closed I-90 due to the blizzard right when we were ready to leave! We went to the hill climb in Cooke City last year, but were having too much fun riding to watch much of the hill climbs, but I have never been to the one in Jackson. NEXT YEAR for sure!!!!

Great shots Luca, I never knew you were into this sort of photography, but I must say you captured it well!

Thanks Pat. I am actually by far not a sports photographer, but I like to try new things and use the knowledge I have to shoot different topics.

BTW, Happy Easter to everybody from Italy :)
