Hi Mitchell,

I'm 98.9 % sure that you can't use the Canon L series with Nikon cameras, not as far as I'm aware.

I think most people seem to look at a website DP Reviews or something similar. Goggle it I'm sure it will come up.

Still learning with Canon 40D, 28-135mm, 100-400mm L and Elements 6.
Any Advice greatfully received.

Why are you considering switching to Nikon?

Here's a link to Ken Rockwell's site that explains a lot about Nikon lenses.

I just really like the D300 manly becuase of the 51 autofocus points but, i am trying to figure out wich has better lens to make my final choice.
the D300 is alot more in price than the 50D wich i am looking at also. so i could get alot nicer of a lens with canon becuase i would have more money if i went with the 50D.. so im not set on getting a nikon but just looking at diferent options...
BTW thanks for the link :D

Mitchell,

Camera bodies come and go about every year to 18 months, so I wouldn't make a choice of manufacturers based on current models. One year Canon may be king and the next year it may be Nikon, but they'll both eventually offer similar choices. IMHO, SLRs are about glass. Since you said you haven't bought any good glass and in fact, even though you shoot with a Canon body, you have no Canon glass, I wonder if you've given your current body a chance to perform at it's best. I know of a bird photographer that has way more "L" glass than most people could ever afford and most of his shots were taken with a Canon Rebel.

MItchell, I just thought I'd offer a different opinion. Nikon does have some terrific features on their current models, but just a couple of years ago, they were trying to catch up with the features Canon offered. I'm sure Canon will respond to the Nikon features in one of their future models. If they don't, they risk losing all their customers to Nikon and I don't believe they'll allow that to happen. This game has been going on for a very long time and I don't think the end is in sight.

Well i think i'll invest in some good "CANON" glass and maybe wait later for a new camera,
Maybe they will come out with like a 60D or somthing soon "wich i dont think they will soon " and it will have more of the features like the nikon D300.
