What a Present !!!!!

Postby Edd » Sun Mar 29, 2009 1:23 am

I can't even start to describe how happy and excited I am at the moment, yesterday was my birthday (the BIG 4 0 (Gulp)). My wife woke me up with quite a large gift all wrapped up, when I tore the paper off I couldn't believe my eyes she has bought me a Canon 100 - 400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM. :D :D :D

So my poor wife got dragged off to the zoo yesterday as we both went round photographing the animals.

Will post some of the better shots later in the Wildlife section, but I have 250 ish images to wade through/vet.

My mother in law has very kindly paid for me to have a day with a local wildlife guide whilst were away on holiday in Scotland. Can't wait, this guy isn't a photographer but goes out with photographers to help track down and find the wildlife they want to shoot. Its a one to one all day so I'm hoping I can get some special shots with this guy and pick up some tracking tips as well :D :D .

So happy I just wanted to let you all know.

That is so cool! I can sense your happiness. That isn't exactly a cheap B-day present! Put that thing to good use and share some pics with us ASAP!

WOW!! What a keeper - (I'm referring to your wife).

I offered congrats in your other thread, but didn't know all the details. Happy Birthday, Ed and enjoy your gift.
I'm looking forward to seeing your pics. I bet your 75-300 will soon be put out to pasture. :)

Happy Belated Birthday Edd!! Sounds like the wifey pulled through with the best present I could think of.

My only question is - What are you going to get her for her birthday now?

Go take some knock out shots to show her how much you appreciate the gift!

Thanks Pat,

I had been very carefully interogated over the past few weeks without even knowing it so 10/10 for spying skills.

At the zoo I managed to get though about 100 shots in less than an hour (thank heavens for digital) so set the camera to JPG to give us that little more space.

I'm really impressed with the lens and the quality of the images at 100% is jaw dropping.

Happy Belated Birtrhday Ed and congrats on the gift. You will love this lens.
I took the snowmobiling photos in the other thread with that lens. I know that Bob has one too.
