Tampa, FL Hot Spots

Hello,

I am heading to sunny Tampa, FL from CT next week for a little relaxing vacation. I am looking forward to some good photo opportunities. Does anyone have any suggestions for some must visit places. I think we will be heading to Tarpon Springs for a day and maybe fort desoto(?) as well.

We have a vehicle and plenty of time on our hands so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what you want to shoot. The University of Tampa has the Minarets and a lot of rowers on the river. You can shoot some neat skyline shots of Tampa & the Port of Tampa from Davis Island along the channel or out near The Davis Island Yacht Club. Ybor City has some interesting buildings and activities during the weekend. DURING THE DAY. If you want some wildlife shots go to Ft. DeSoto or Lettuce Lake Park. East of Tampa about 45 minutes is Circle B Reserve which is a wildlife paradise. If you want to shoot Alligators this is your place. A lot of Photo ops here it just depends on what you're looking for. Tarpon Springs is cool but not for a whole day. Try the Don Cesar Hotel on St. Pete beach and drive out to Pass a Grille from the "Don" for some nice Beach Shots. Beautifularea.

Fort DeSoto is great. There's a big cat rescue a little west of the Tampa airport that offers tours just for photographers.
