If you're coming to our part of the state, yes, bring shorts. If you're headed to the mountains, they're optional.
One of my grandsons wore shorts to school today. :)

I'll be in Jackson. Well this is handy to know! i would've been decked out in pants and long sleved shirts the whole time. hahaha. It'll be weird...wearing "summer" clothes in march....hahaha. (then i'll prolly come back and put my long pants back on! haha) Thanx for mentioning the hot weather! Cause i doubt my friend would've remembered to tell me about how warm it is down there.

Pat, that palm tree looks like it belongs in a horror movie (minus the flowers, of course)! I can just picture some eyes peering out from underneath all of that "stuff"!!! Maybe I read too much Stephen King in my high school days ~ I still wouldn't want to walk through a whole grove of them at night!

Be sure to bring both types of clothing, because the weather around that time of year can change quickly. It depends on whether we have a Southern or Northern wind. Jackson is only about an hour away from me. I live on the far Northeast end of Memphis. If you get time to make a trip this way, let me know. I'd like to meet you and I'm sure my grandsons would. :)

This is a definite sign of spring here! The garter snakes are out enjoying the sunshine, "doing their thing" in the juniper bushes!

After all, spring doesn't always just mean flowers...

Hey Jm! Is this "garter snake"? Amazing shots. How could you come this close without getting bitten?

Thanks NatureAdik! Actually, these snakes are extremely skittish, and they "run" before they bite! The only time they will bite is if you pick them up and mess with them (which I did ALOT as a kid!). I like them, because they eat bugs (SPIDERS), and I HATE spiders!!! But my neighbor's wife is terrified of them, so he kills them, but I think they have learned, because they all congregate on the opposite side of my yard from his! They have caused me to jump a time or two when I am not awake and almost step on one, and there have been a few lawnmower casualties! Here is another picture I took for my neighbor, to show him that I don't think he is winning the battle!
Image
I like how the snake on the left is brown-tinged for camouflage, and the snake on the right in green or yellow-tinged. Some "snake experts" say that garter snakes don't camouflage, but I think this shot pretty much shows that they do to some extent!
