MUNDANE QUESTION

Postby Tusker » Fri May 29, 2009 6:59 am

May be, but if you don't know, you ask. Right? Been trying to work with the new D 700, getting along fine, except, when shooting NEF (RAW)/jpeg, the NEF files do not, or will not open in View NX, nor will they open in PS CS2?? Have fooled around with it a bit, but have yet to find the answer. Maybe here? THANKS!!! :)

When the manufacturers release a new RAW format, they ususally supply the specs to Adobe and Adobe will issue a patch for your software. Have you checked Adobe's site to see if a new patch is available for CS2?

Bob, no I have not. I can up grade to CS4, but all my books are on Cs2, including the ones on Restoration & Retouching. Bummer. I don't suppose I could have them both? CS@ & CS4? :)

I checked Adobe's site and they don't have an update for CS2 to allow you to read D700 RAW files - Bummer! :(

I got my D90 and even the Nikon software that came with it, DIDN'T support the new NEF format for the D90. I had to down load the latest from the Nikon website to get the latest.

Wouldn't surprise me the same with the D700.

Tusker,

the update to the RAW format is independent to the one of Photoshop. You don't have to get a new version of PS.
Go to Adobe's and search for the latest version of Camera RAW.

Problem solved itself. I received CS4 for fathers day yesterday, from my son, and lovely Daughter-in-law who reside in Alaska. WOW! A COMPLETE SURPRISE.
