ANOTHER PROBLEM SOLVED

Postby Tusker » Thu Jun 18, 2009 8:43 pm

I believed I solved another problem today----- I hope-- I spend a lot of time on the road with a camera at the ready. Padded with a towel, etc. seems no matter what, it would slide off the center console of the truck when stopping or sharp turn whatever. Was in Gander Mountain the other day and saw these little PADDED coolers for sale, $9.95--- Thought they MIGHT serve another purpose. I picked one up today and gave it a try. The D700, with 80/400 lens, with lens hood on fit just perfect. Now for me, this is a big deal. It even has a little pocket in front that could be used for small items if need be, PLUS, it will insulate against the heat, and or cold, if need be. A friend uses a styrofoam cooler sometimes in the summer, and I have a soft sided cooler on wheels, but it isn't always at the ready. Sure beats having the camera bounce around the cab of the truck. For $9.95, I may go back tomorrow and get another one. :) Oh yeah, the grey thing is a bag (knit) a sheet set came in for the camper-- being knit, NO lint, and helps keep dust off when at the beach or elsewhere. :) Please excuse the poor photos, they were just quick ones with the P&S for this post. the D 700 as shown, has it's battery grip installed. This bag is as padded as my LP camera backpack bag. COSTCO sells a cooler on wheels for about $35.00 -- I missed out on the other bag, it was gone, no wonder, when I looked them up on the net, they list for $35.00, and those are not camo. Could not find one anywhere. A bag like my roll around soft sided cooler list else where for $59.95   :D

Nice one Tusker !!!!

I generally hang my camera off the head rest on the passengers seat of the car, either that or put the neck strap around the an arm rest that folds down.

Of course the best camera holder I have found for the car is something called a passenger!!!!! when not available the head rest seems to work great :D :D

If you want to edit any of my images to demonstrate points/techniques to either myself or others please feel free to do so.
Still learning with Canon 40D, 28-135mm, 100-400mm L and Elements 6.
Any Advice greatfully received.

That's a good Idea Tusker. I think I'll go to Gander and see if I can find one.
It would solve a big problem for me also.

looking for a cooler, or a passenger? :D
I thought I drive like a maniac, and I've never had my camera fall. I guess I need to go off-road? Not in my wussy 2- wheel drive truck... Sometimes when I'm walking up the hill to find the mares in the pasture, I wish I had a passenger to tote my camera for me.
