lens cap fit with polarizer??

Hi Everyone!

Hope someone out there can help me with this.......I just got a Canon 10-22 lens. Followed advice to get a slim circular polarizer due to the wide angle. I purchased a 77mm polarizer to fit the 77mm lens. I placed the slim polarizer on the lens, and now the lens cap does not fit, or click into place. Is this to be expected because of the slim profile of the polarizer? Just seems that it should fit no matter what.
Please enlighten me.

Yes, that should be expected. Slim filters don't usually fit lens caps.
