Oh man, this will be a great subject. I went to school for architectural drafting and its one of my favorite subjects to photograph.

When ever Cindy and I travel through historic towns, cities and areas, I have a field day looking for cool angles and designs. I'll have to head down to Old Faithful Lodge or up to the Mammoth area and get some neat shots of different angles and architecture.

Thanks Mitchell, this one is even better than Wildlife for me!

I don't have time to go out and shoot buildings. Can I use something from the past?

I think the entire assignment goal is to make us go out and shoot new material strictly for each weeks assignment. It really isnt fair for us photographers who have a very large collection of stock material to just draw from past work when some of the younger, or newer members are shooting as they go.

If this was the case, I would have never used that stupid Apple Picture I submitted last week, but that was all I had available to shoot.

I'm only worried I might not be able to pick only one shot to submit for this weeks assignment. Cindy and I headed over to the Virginia/Nevada City Ghost Towns on Friday and Saturday and I think I shot 12 gigs worth of Buildings/Architectural material to choose from. Amazing stuff and if you've never visited, then its a must see for anyone traveling through Montana!!

I don't think i'll be able to submit anything this week. oh wait...maybe...
I've been so busy and shooting umpires mostly(hey its playoffs!) and riding wave runners. :D
but here is a shot i just thought of. I shoot it when we went to Detroit to watch my cousin play in the Jazz Fest. It was basically "oh that's cool" *click* hahaha. So yeah. not the best ever. more of a point and shoot shot, but its better then nothing i guess... *shrugs*
now if the theme was officials for sports...then i'd be having a field day. ;)

I wasn't sure I could play with this one, but I was out and about, and found the last building that marks what is left of either Rescue, NE or Hershey, NE. I didn't go inside, but I was able to drive around it a bit. I had to take the whole building shots with my p&s, since I have a fear of switching lenses in the truck with my dog, letting dog hair get in the camera etc. so here's what I got.

and a date on a building in Bruno:

Not what anyone would think, when one says 'architecture'... but those elevators served their purpose when they were being used... and it's the kind that I like to look at. Loyd Wright Weber - or whatever the heck his name was - can keep his buildings.

OMG, dont ever look at my photos if you have a fear of this....LOL We travel fulltime with two dogs in the back seat and I change lenses about a dozen times per day. If dog hair was a worry, I wouldnt be able to take photos...

This is what a Rocket Blower is for and I keep one in the cup holder of the truck to move the dog hair...notice I didnt say REMOVE the dog hair as that would be impossible. I just move it away from the front of the lens opening

Hi Guys here is my entry.

Confession Time - This image wasn't taken this week due to a lack of time, it was taken a few weeks ago when I was looking at lead lines in images.

If you don't want to include this image in the voting because it wasn't shot last week then I won't be offended, I just wanted to take part.

Image

The photo was taken using a tripod, cable release, and a 2 stop GND, the sky started to darken whilst I was there which I thought made the scene more interesting.

In PP I have used levels to clean up the image, and to slightly darken the sky a tad more. I have in creased saturation to enhance colours on the far bank where the sun was shining, and then sharpened.

Thanks

Ed

Pat, the dog rides in front with me. She sheds like nobodys' business, and there is hair everywhere in the front of the truck. Lenses are apt to get dirty, but after spending $90 on the last cleaning, I decided to make sure I didn't go out of my way to cause another reason to send everything back in. I have another camera body, I just need to keep it with me, and leave the 18-55 lens on it. I came across this old elevator by accident kind of, and remembered the assignment. Decided it would work as well as anything else I'd ever come across...
and I don't ever see hair in any of your pictures, unless it's on the elk, or bull, or whatever. BTW, where are you right now?

Otter, right now I'm sitting in my camper in Grant Village Campground in Yellowstone. The heater is blasting because the temps are supposed to be down in the low 30's tonight and I just got home from work (rode some 30 miles on my motorcycle) so it's bloddy cold. I understand about the dog hair thing, I was just messing with ya.

Back to Architecture shots. I was thinking we were only supposed to post one shot for everyone to vote on, and this was very hard for me. Cindy and I spent 2 full days in the Vigrinia City and Nevada City Ghost Towns, and I had this assignment in my mind the entire time. I also headed up to the town of Mammoth Hot Springs and went over to the Old Faithful Area because both of these area's have so much historic Architecture. But I think in the end, I liked the stuff from the Ghost Towns

I know there isnt anything all that special or the photography is something I'd win any awards for, but since the topic was Architecture, this one shot shows almost every form of architecture known to mankind.

Image
There is Brick flooring, the original stone wall supported by a concrete foundation that butts up to a framed wall covered with both wood and plaster. There is even an electrical outlet to bring the whole mess into the current century

Then, Cindy was reading through some of the posts and knew about this weeks assignment. Since she doesnt have her own Forum Name, she knew when we headed to the Ghost Towns that she should be looking for unique Architectural shots.

She took this one specifically for this assignment and asked me to post it for her

I don't know if there is a number we're limited to, the last poll I saw some people had put more than one. Are there some hard and fast rules someone needs to come up with?
