Hey Guys,
I was on top of Clingman's Dome at 7:00 AM this morning.....Sure was cold, but sure was beautiful.. The fog lies low in the valleys, and the colors are great just before the sun pops it's head over the mountain....The still and quiet are so relaxing...The colors are changing on top of the Smokies now, but half way down the mountain, the trees are still green.. ...anytime you could get there within the next two weeks would be good....But, if you can avoid the weekends.....The traffic is horrible...

Thanks for the updates. Yours is the only one from SMNP I found that is helpful. Hopfully you'll have a couple more. I am 12 hours away and can be there for any 5 days. Is now the time?

I read where 100 mph winds ripped through the Tennessee side of the park yesterday causing a lot of damage. Does anyone know how bad the leaf loss was? This makes me sick. I was heading down there next week too.

Thursday morning. Newfound Gap Road open. Part of Cades Cove and some other roads still closed. Call park at 1-865-436-1200 for road updates. Their phone menu is fairly efficient. Good luck.
