[GORIO] - My Heaven on Earth

Postby GORIO » Fri Nov 20, 2009 10:01 am

When I shot this scene I wanted to bring out the sky and the waves at the same time. I decided that in order for me to do this is converting it to Monochrome. For me the stillness of the rocks amidst the fury of the waves and the calmness of the clouds/ sky complements each other like yin and yang..

Once again, beautiful. :]
I like the B&W, it makes it so...simple. I like the look of the waves too.

I'm on a mission to shoot a pic of the beach(my grandmother wants to give it as a gift to my Aunt.I feel the pressure now. its gotta be AMAZING, in my eyes at least. lol)) I don't have any cool rocks at my beach(its just sand...joyous.), so I'm not sure if the "silky" effect will work or not. What do you think?(you seem to shoot a lot of water.) I want it to look...cool, and not just a regular picture of the beach. I'm open to any tips. :D I have like 2-3weeks to take a good picture. lol.

hi pg! thanks for dropping by. im sure you can find a good sensible foreground in a beach. It maybe a rock, branch, even the sand can be a good one. If still there's no foreground available i suggest get any branch in there and throw it in the sand haha. perfect time is during golden hour sunrise or sunset. bring in those filters and tripod. good luck and let us know how does it go. :D

Thanks. :]
I haven't shot in the early morning yet. And I reallllllllly want to! So I look forward to shooting then...and what the pictures will look like. lol. I'm in WEST Michigan, so yeah. we'll see. The only filter I have is my polarizer. I've heard it works best when its 90 degrees to the sun, but......do you recommend using it or not?
I'll be sure and post the picture[s]. :]

Wow that looks absolutely incredible. This is something that would look good printed out huge on a wall. Even though it's a photo there's so much going on that it looks alive. I also find it very calming just looking at the horizon of the sea. I hope you don't mind if I save this as my wallpaper.

These horse racing tips are just posted.
