It's a little early to see these in Memphis, but since we've been setting records for warm days, it's not all that surprising. Our normal high temperature for yesterday is 67 degrees, but it was 83 and set another new record.
I didn't have a macro lens or closeup tubes nearby, but wanted to capture the first butterfly of the year. I had a Canon 100-400mm attached to the camera, so that's what was used.
Vary nice shot Bob, funny thing I was out today with my Tamron 200-500mm lens on at the edge of the woods hoping for a shot of Mr. hawk but I ran out of time. but I seen these milk weeds at least I think thats what they are. anyway I did a little close up work with my long lens too. Things are just starting to open up here.

I actually like using the telephoto lens for macro shots, but normally use closeup tubes and/or a teleconverter. I especially like this setup when trying to capture bees. It allows me a little more distance from my subjects.
I like the results you got from that lens. I know that lens is very popular with a lot of birders.
