Adobe Bridge not showing raw files/Dont open in photoshop

Postby VibrantMindDance » Mon Sep 08, 2008 4:24 pm

So im having a pretty major issue. I just downloaded the free trial of CS3 from adobe.com since my version is on backorder and I needed it for school. I just installed it earlier and when I opened bridge MOST (strangely, not all) of my raw files wouldnt show up as thumbnails and when i tried to open them in photoshop it said that the format wasnt supported.

Ive had CS3 up and running on my previous computer, and have used the same files from the same external harddrive on it with complete success. Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong? How i could fix it? ANY help would be appreciate.

I know that I got a msg the very first time I went to open bridge saying it recommended or required an Intel Celeron, Pentium 4, etc in order to run properly. My new laptop is running an Intel Centrino Duo...which wasnt on the list... but i dont understand why that would be that imperative to function. My new laptop has adequate speed and space.

Without access to my raw files... i cant get anywhere...

:x

OK so I just tried to open one of my raw files in photoshop again through bridge and the error msg says "Could not open because it is not the right kind of document".... whhhaaaat?

My raw files are in the canon format. And as I stated earlier ive used this same harddrive with these same exact files in bridge and PS CS3 thousands of times on my old computer (and the copy i was using then was a bootleg i got for $35).

I just upgraded from CS2 to CS3 and Bridge wouldn't work. I contacted Adobe and they recommended that I delete Bridge and reinstall it. I did and it's working now. I saw numerous posts on the internet where people said they had to do this mulitple times to get Bridge to work again. You might give it a try.

Hmm. Im not sure if I can do that with the trial. I guess I will just have to wait until my copy shows up.

Thanks for the tip! I certainly hope that works.

There are several software solutions for that, the most expensive is Adobe Acrobat (the Reader is just that, a reader, you need the full version to create documents).
There is also a website of Adobe that lets you do that online, they charge by the month starting at $9.99 : https://createpdf.adobe.com/

On the compatible software list all you have to do is search for create acrobat from word on Google and you will receive many results.

Converting to pdf will in no way guarantee that your work will not be copied. Text can simply be copied and pasted and there are many solutions to convert back from PDF to Word or anything else.

Unfortunately, there is NO way. Anything in any format with any safeguards, can be copied.
Copyright it and be prepared to enforce it when you find a violator.
