Hey Gordon, great job in describing the area, you hit it perfect. When you told me we were going to be there at the same time, I thought of you every night when those crazy storms were blowing through. I wasnt sure where or what you were going to be staying in, but our camper was shaking and rocking something awful a few nights, and as much as I'd like to say it was the love making, it wasnt.

One day we could see our breath, and the next we were in shorts and t-shirts. We stayed at the Devils Track Campground and drove the Gunflint trail for two days straight trying to get a glimpse of some moose or bear. None were found, but we did hear some coyotes howling and spotted a few eagles, one Golden and a few Bald, but no shots

Great pics and the area is beautiful to say the least. We both cant wait to go back and canoe a few of the lakes like you did in your adventure.

Thanks for sharing

Our first night we couldnt have heard anything. The storm was just that loud and fierce. I cant imagine sleeping in a tent!! But both of the other nights we heard howling. I dont know the difference between a wolf howl and a coyote howl, so I dont know which one we heard.

We did see a coyote on the road one night driving back, but just it's silouette and it was gone into the woods. That's a shame about the moose population, rack one up for global warming and another extinct animal.

Glad you had a good time despite the nasty weather and cant wait to see some more pictures
