Geotagging

Postby backpacker » Fri Sep 24, 2010 12:22 am

I would like to start geotagging my pictures but not sure how to go about it. I know I need a GPS device to record the locations. I'll be getting an iPhone 4 soon and was wondering if there is a good app that will do what I need. I have also heard of small GPS devices that connect to the hotshoe or just clip to your belt. I can't afford to get buy a dedicated handheld GPS unit like a Garmin Dakota so that's out.

The next thing is how to geotag the photos. I have an older Mac G5 tower and would use either Aperture, iPhoto or HoudaGeo unless there is other software I need to consider. I'm not sure what the procedure is to get the GPS info from the iPhone or other device into the photo metadata.

Thanks,

For the small gps device you mentioned which can mount on the hotshoe, you may visit http://www.easytagger.ca/downloads.php or www.e-geotag.com There includes most of the geotagging software and the procedure how to add the gps info into exif.

But Easytagger can geotag directly, that saved your time in post processing.
