Photo Backpack

Postby pwog » Mon Nov 05, 2007 10:27 am

Hi,

I am looking for a backpack that will hold my camera, 4 lenses (the largest being a Sigma 135-400mm), a flash, accessories and a tripod. I have looked at the following:

Tamrac 5577 Expedition 7 Photo Backpack

Kata HB-205 GDC Hiker Backpack

Lowepro Vertex 200 AW Backpack

Does anyone have any experience with any of these packs?

I would love to hear your opinions.
Thanks,
Paul

I currently have the LowePro mini trekker, and have outgrown it. So I have been looking at the Vertex 200 also. Probably the case I will buy.

What about the Lowpro Nature Trekker II AW? Have you looked into or heard anything about that one?

I have the Tamrac one and my only complaint was with the shoulder straps and the waist belt. But then my model was a few years old, and the current model solved these problems by making the shoulder straps more contoured and the waist belt being padded.

It's heavy duty and will hold everything you have on your list and then some. It has straps to hold a tripod and I even strap a lens holder to the waist strap to keep a different lens within reach.

As long as I dont have the tripod strapped to the back, I can check it for carry-on luggage, and not have to worry about handing my camera gear over to the baggage handlers.

It also has been very abused for the length of time I have owned it and has stood up to everything I have put it through.

Dont have experience with any of the others you speak of.

Good Luck
