Newbie needs help

Ever wanted to ask a professional how they approach the landscape or wildlife or how they set up their camera for great photographs? What about asking what kind of gear the pro uses and why? Well here's your chance.

Newbie needs help

Postby zuzanna » Tue Oct 12, 2010 8:51 am

I have a Sony Handicam with 40X Optical Zoom. I am going on a Hot AIr Balloon ride over the Red Rock Area in Sedona on vacation. I am new to photography. What is the best way for me to get great video or still photos with my handicam? It does both still shots on memory stick pro and video on the mini disks. I have two filters for it, one is a polarizer and the other is an UV filter. Should I use them or leave them off?

Thank you,

Suzanne

I don't think you'll need the UV filter, but depending on the time of day and your angle to the sun, the polarizer could prove useful. I'd take it along just in case. You might find a gorillapod handy if you could find a place to attach it.
That would be one time that I wouldn't spend a lot of time on photography. The Sedona area is so beautiful, I think I'd just enjoy the sights and the ride.

Have a great trip, Suzanne and Welcome to the forum!
