Any tips for great scenic shots at these parks?

My husband and I will be in Acadia National Park and later we'll drive down the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway and through the Great Smoky Mountains National park.
I'm really excited because we live in Texas and the scenery at those parks will be totally new and different for me. I've looked at the park web sites and at others' photos on Flickr but I am wondering if any of you have suggestions for "must stop" places to take photos, or any other advice?

I can't offer any advise, but sounds like a wonderful trip. Cades Coves is a popular place for those visiting the Smokies. I can't offer any first hand advise since I never had time to visit on my trips to the Smokies.
If you've never been to Maine before, I think you'll love it. It's quite a change from Texas (I lived in Abilene, Dallas, San Angelo and San Antonio and 2 of my granddaughters live in Austin).


Be sure to post lots of pics from your trip. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

A little bit of me is wondering if both of us will survive 3 weeks in the same car! And I'm sure he's wondering how many hundred photo stops we'll make. He says I have a picture of every elk in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
But mostly I am really excited about this. I've done lots of shooting in the western parks, from Palo Duro Canyon just down the road from us to Arches, etc. and this will be really different terrain. (If you never visited Palo Duro Canyon, you can check out my Flickr page; there's some photos there altho they don't do it justice and I really need to get back down there.)
OK, if you hear of any great photo spots in those parks, please holler.

I've never visited the Palo Duro Canyon. I've driven past it a few times on my way to the drag races in Amarillo. You might post a link to your Flickr pages.

I hope you're taking your trip to Maine in the summer. I was in Boston one summer and drove up to Maine for lobster and it was fantastic. I was back there again in early October with a gentleman that worked for me and planned on taking him up there for a lobster dinner, but everything along the coast was closed. I understood why when we hit all the ice and snow.

I never saw any elk in New England, but have seen Moose in New Hampshire and Vermont. They had the first "Moose Crossing" signs I'd seen since I was in Alaska.
