Postby donaldcamp » Fri Apr 29, 2011 2:02 pm

In order to submit a photo I am required to provide a file size less than 4 mb. How to I downsize from an 8mb file?

Donald,

Welcome to the forum!

Do you have any image editing software and if so, which one? Is your file already located on an internet image storage site and if so, which one?
You have provided enough info to allow us to help you.

I have Photoshop8. My photos are not on the internet - only downloaded from my 50D to my hard drive and edited using Photoshop

Go to Image Size and change your larger "Pixel Dimensions" number to 800 pixels or you may have an option under "File" to "Save for Web and Devices".
I have Photoshop CS5 rather than Elements, but believe one of these options should be available.

You could also open a free Flickr account and post a link from their site. If you decide to go this route and have trouble, let us know.

I really like the interface on this. I also like possibility of different modules being tabbed at the top. Keep up the good work.

Photoshop is best answer to your question. You can change the size of the photo without affecting the photo quality. The second option is Microsoft Office Picture Manager. You can take resize option from their. But it affect picture quality very badly.
