With Spring quickly approaching, at least in my part of the country, I thought it might be fun to have a common thread where we could all add our posts. For those of you still suffering through Winter, it will give you a place to come to get away from it.

Here's a shot of a honeysuckle branch just coming back to life.

This is one of the flowers that always signals the beginning of Spring for me...a forsthia bush. I was almost inside it when I took this shot. I wanted to focus on some of the individual flowers within the bush.

BTW, this bush used to be over 8' tall, but an early warm spell followed by a hard freeze killed a lot of the branches. I took the chainsaw to it and cut it back to about 3' tall last year and it's making a comeback.

I know it's a little early for some of you to add to this, so I'll keep it going. Both shots were taken with a 30D and Canon 17-55.

Here's something you don't see much of in Memphis - Bradford Pears... :) :) :)

and another spring flower. I don't know what this is, but when it first blooms it's a deep purple or deep blue and fades to lavender as it ages.

Thank you Bob.. Your shots are encouraging! Still have quite a bit of snow here although the temps are slowly starting to climb. I don't expect true Spring weather to show up for another month.. I can hope though.. 8)

Swoozie,

When I lived in southern Michigan, it snowed in June! I'm not sure if they even have a Spring season in Michigan. :)

Nice shots, Bob...I would like to believe that Spring has arrived, but Mother Nature is supposed to drop 6+ inches of snow on us starting tonight.....someday we'll have flowers too...maybe...

Tom,

We had 5" of snow less than 2 weeks ago. Many of the flowers had already bloomed. It looks like most of them have recovered nicely.

Sorry, I haven't been on the forum for a while. It took some to catch up, too.
Here's my contribution to spring pictures. Some of my family live at about 2600 feet on a plateau where they still have some snow, but I was able to get this from my sister-in-laws front yard. She's the gardener in the family.

I had to get into one of those ridiculous positions to get the shot
Comments and critique welcome.

Awesome shots Bob and Allie, that last shot allie looks like little light bulbs.

We're in Baja right now and Spring means the cactus are just starting to dry up completely...LOL

Jackson Hole:

599" of snow, 36" of which fell this past week. More snow coming tonight breaking our record. This morning we woke up with 15 degrees at the base/town. Does that sound like Spring to you? :)

Wow, what a great collection of gorgeous spring time images! The sparrow in the flowers is fantastic.
