Nice. I was thinking about getting one for my trip to Japan but decided that I have plenty lens to carry as it is. Last Fall in Peru I felt like I needed a golf cart to carry all my equipment. lol
My friend just ordered the 50mm f/1.4 - I look forward to see what it does.
Have fun with your new toy. Make sure you share the photos you take.

If it's anything like the nikon 50/1.8 it may be the best bang for the buck you can get. Mine produces beautiful results. I'm looking forward to seeing some shots.

Anyone know if there is a wide angle adapter available for this lens?

I've never heard of such a thing. I have the 50 f/1.4 but have never heard of a wide angle adapter for it (except to take a few steps backwards).

My son has the 50 f/1.8 and gets some excellent shots with it. The build is lacking, but the IQ isn't. Enjoy and post some pics.

well I wasnt too sure if there was like a fisheye adapter or some wide angle adapter for it. I am heading out Wednesday to LV so maybe try some night shots from atop the RIO. Maybe get out to Red Rock if I am lucky.

Hey Frozen,
I have one of those "nifty fifties" as well and yes, it's really a great lens for the price. It doesn't really focus any faster or more accurately than my Tamron's, but hey...for $85 who can complain! It's sharp and that's the most important thing. The one thing I will say is that if you go to do anything like portrait work with it, watch your DOF...it can get really shallow, really quick!

As for "wide angle adapters", while I've seen a number on Ebay, the couple that I've tried are...well...pure crap (and you don't hear me say things like that too often). Aside from a serious lack of sharpness, most of them really seem to cause a lot of problems with aberrations and such...ghosting, colors out of whack, etc..

The thing that makes the nifty fifty such a great little lens is that it is so sharp...most of those screw on adapters are going to take that away. Some of the pricier models that are actually made for video aren't too bad, but most of the el' cheapos aren't even worth using as paper weights. In fact one that I had ordered on Ebay was so bad, I had it back in the box and back off to the seller for a refund the same day I received it (and you don't hear me say things like that too often either!).

Just my ever humble $.02 worth!
Peace,
Jim

Funny! I hear you, they sure charge a lot of money for that one ride. Fortunately last time I did it I was with friends who live in Vegas and they got local discount tickets.

I just got back from Tokyo Disney Resort and I think Mickey Mouse ran away with all my money.

Joking aside, I was extremely surprised to see that Tokyo Disneyland is actually cheaper (and food much cheaper and better) than the sister parks in the US.
I think I got some great shots, will post some later...

Personally...being a trekkie myself...I'd have added some phaser fire towards the "home base of the Evil Hilton Empire" there :D. Of course you could just make the Hilton look like a Borg cube too...

Peace,
Jim
