Canon... oh Canon

Postby gldiana » Tue May 06, 2008 8:55 pm

Seriously, sometimes I think the guys at Canon are sitting there waiting for me to send an email so they can jump up and see who answers first.

I was looking for an upgrade to Easy PhotoPrint Pro (I recently bought a Pixma Pro9500 printer) and couldn't find it on the site so I emailed customer service and they got back to me with the answer within 2 MINUTES !!

All the times I contacted Canon I never had to wait more than 12 hours for a reply and usually they get it right the first time. Good Job, Canon! That's why I like to deal with that company (I own Canon cameras, Canon printers, Canon scanners, etc.)

So far I've had pretty good service with Canon, and I know I own enough of their equipment to put me on the board of directors :D But I'm getting a bit peeved with how long it is taking them to fix my 28-300L lens.

Being a member of CPS, they are supposed to have a 3 day turn around for CPS members, and they've had it for over two weeks now and everytime I call, they just say "Sorry, it's not finished yet?"

Except for that, I've always had phenomial service from them

From the photography end, I've never had any issues with Canon (well...other than price)...and I've used their products for many years. As a former PC tech though, I've always felt their printers leave something to be desired...I've never been happy with the quality of them and always thought they should stick to making cameras. I've got three or four of those buggers up in the scrap pile in the attic and about the only thing their really good for is door stops.

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim

On that, Jim, I totally disagree with you.
I've had a Canon Pixma 4100 for 2 years and I think it's a nice photo printer for home use. Now that I've got to play with my Canon Pixma Pro9500 for 2 weeks and framed few of the prints (done on Moab Rag Bright 300) I gotta say I'm loving it. The quality is top notch and the B&W prints are truly magnificent.

On the other hand, after the horrible experience I had with HP Customer Service and hardware I would not touch another one of their products with a yard long stick.

I gotta agree with Luca,

I have a HP photo printer now and in is collecting dust, because it is more of a pain than it is worth. I never got quality prints from it and It costs too much for ink. I've never had a Cannon, but I bet they are better.

Just my thoughts,
