You asked for it so here I go
If I was going to take a Artistic Shot of this child or any child for that matter, I would have either had them show some sort of emotion or not include their whole face....as in both their eyes and the mouth
Kids are kids. They're either smiling, laughing, frowning or crying. I would have said "Come on, make me a funny face" or "Give me your mean face"...etc
This is basically a 'point a camera at the child and shoot' type of shot and doesnt let the viewer see any emotion in the image at all.
I'm sorry if that is too harsh, but one of my favorite things to do is snap images of my nieces and nephews to try and capture the beauty of them beings a kids. I want them to look back at those photos and say "I was having fun there" or "Look at my face! Why was I crying like that?"
This is more of what I'm talking about. This just says Child Having Fun on it
Then you have your typical sassy little girl shot here
And one of my all time favorites, caught in the middle of a big laugh
One other thing I've always found to make kid pictures stand out more. Unless they're wearing something bright and bold, a black and white shot almost always looks better for some reason.
Ok, that's my two cents. Hopefully you're not offended I picked apart your shot. But I love snapping pictures like you did, I just thing with some emotion shown, you'd have a winner
