Last Thursday was my first real chance to use my new Canon EOS 40D whilst attending Burghley Horses Trials here in the UK.
I have posted some pictures below and wondered if you would be kind enough to pass comment on them.
I have just started out in photography and have much to learn, and that was the basis upon which I joined this forum.
Be as picky as you like, wether its exposure, metering, focus or whatever I'm all ears, or eyes in this case.
The only editing I have done is to make the photos smaller to fit on the thread, and convert from Raw to Jpg, but I'll be happy to provide links to the orginal image (Jpg Format).
The weather was pretty poor wet and windy for most of it and all the photos had to be taken from a given seat in the stand around the area.
Here Goes !!!!
This is my favoruite shot of the day, taken at ISO400 Shutter 500 at f5.6 on 75-300mm lense using evaluative metering.
Here I wanted to capture the foaming horse head plus the rider.
Again trying to get the horses head mainly, taken at ISO400 Shutter 800 at f5.6 on 75-300mm lense using evaluative metering.
Here I was trying to catch the horse doing a "Flying Change" they seemed to bunny hop with their front legs.
Taken at ISO400 Shutter 1250 at f5.6 on 75-300mm lense using evaluative metering.
Here I was trying to blurr the motion of the horses legs, at lot of them didn't turn out as the horse was to blurred as well from the motion. Here I guess I made the mistake of being set on Av when really should of used Tv.
Taken at ISO100 Shutter 80 at f11 on 75-300mm lense using evaluative metering.
Many thanks in advance.
If you want to edit any of my images to demonstrate points/techniques to either myself or others please feel free to do so.
Still learning with Canon 40D, 28-135mm, 100-400mm L and Elements 6.
Any Advice greatfully received.
