Do like me, get both
Seriously, it's time for me to move to full frame field. I have used a 5D before and many friends have it and a CMOS doesn't cut it anymore for where I'm going (not entirely, there's still room for it, though) and its superiority in light capture makes it my body of choice (along with the Nikon D3, but I'm not going to spend $5000 for a body without having any lens, plus Canon is 4 years ahead in full-frame sensor manufacturing and nobody can tell me that it doesn't make a difference in the know-how. Other than that the D3 is too bulky, not a good travel camera, I already struggle carrying 30D and lenses and tripod around the world). The new 5D is light years ahead of the old 5D in terms of light sensitivity and noise (I'm basing this on the words of a friend who tested the 50D for Canon, and I saw those photos, so if the 50D has such great results in terms of noise the 5D will be the same or better. Considering it's a full frame I go with better).
On the other hand, I love the 10-22mm lens too much to drop it so I'm also getting a 50D. I outgrew the 30D about a year ago, time for change. According to some stores the 50D will be released on October 6th. Today Canon put the prices on their site for the 5D MkII ($2,699)and G10 ($499, same as the G9) so now the prices are official. I'm expecting the 5D to be available around the same date. Anybody wants to buy a 30D? LOL
