Hi Hugh,

I'm not that experinced at editing at all, need lots and lots of practise, so I supose I should really keep my gob shut.

The only thing I would be tempted to do is crop out some of the background water so the image is more bird than water if you see what I mean ???? Try to use say a 6 x 4 crop would be my guess.

Hi Hugh,

Your knowledge on birds is better than mine, its a Seagull in my books !!!!!

Personally I would crop a little more bit lik this .......

Image

The way I see it, the shot is of the bird so you need as much of the subject to fill the frame.

Sorry I can't comment on colours etc, not read that far in the manual as yet, but will get there one day.

Hope others comment soon so we can both learn more :D :D

not sure if how much my comment counts, I'm still learning about color and all that cool stuff, but I must say, I do like the crop mr.Ed did. I think it's more focused on the subject. I think maybe if there was grass or something else behind the subject, using the rule of thirds[as you did in the original photo] would've made a great picture. but that's my very own opinion. :)

oh, and that's the prettiest segull I've ever seen. Over here they're white/grey...and well, we call them "rats with wings" at the beach.
"its the little things that make all the difference"
I'm a.k, a highschool student and learning all the things the Canon Rebel XSI can offer...advice is more then welcome. (:

Hi Hugh,

It looks fine to me, as yet I don't have a clue about adjusting colours and sharpening etc.

I think the shot may have a little too much yellow. I like this crop rather than the one Ed suggested. I think all living things need a little "nose room" when their pic is taken from the side. I adjusted the original by adding a little blue, cropping and sharpening a little.
