Pontatoc Peak is in the front range of the 9000'+ Santa Catalina Mountains which also form the northern boundary of Tucson, Arizona. However, the peak cannot be seen w/o getting into or very close to lower Pontatoc Canyon. From the peak to the canyon floor is 1600'. Yes, there is a trail to the top; photo taken from the trailhead.
