I have visited Monument Valley several times but always felt constraint in taking compositions I liked because of the access restrictions. Although I have never used a guide before I felt a local guide would help. In 2012 I decided to hire Tom Phillips (RIP), legendary Navajo Guide and historian for a late afternoon Monument Valley photography. This image was captured just before the sun disappeared behind the horizon. The shutter speed was ¼ of a second and I used a Graduated Neutral Density filter to darken the upper part of the sky. I processed the RAW image with PS Lightroom, making minor adjustments to adjust tonal values on parts of the image.
