Description

"...in July the white clouds come. Wherever you may stand they always approach from the horizon. Small domes of gleaming vapor appearing over ridge or mesa - drifting in silent rhythmical ranks - ascending, building, trailing their ultra-marine shadows over the open lands." - Maynard Dixon Dixon was a very productive artist in the first half of the 20th century. And one of his favorite subjects was the western desert with its beautiful, cumulus clouds and their shadows. When I was in the Sonoran desert looking out over this landscape I couldn't help but think of how inspired Maynard Dixon would be have been by this scene. October 2015
