Monsoon Sunset Over Mt. Williamson (eastern Sierra Nevada)
Lone Pine, CA
Late summer often brings impressive stormy skies to the sierra nevada from monsoon moisture drawn up from the south. On this evening, I arrived in the Alabama Hills below Mt. Whitney and Mt. Williamson just as an especially violent storm began to break at sunset. This storm closed down the Mt. Whitney trail for 24 hours because of lightning and flash floods, but the skies make for quite a show.
