Notes

On the Edge of the Long Valley Caldera is a vast sheet of volcanic tuff. It is normally pretty smooth and makes for great climbing & bouldering. I'm not sure what caused these tuff dragons to form - but they are pretty cool.

Description

Cloudy skies provided texture and tension in the sky, softened the light on the tuff formation, and light up the orange colors in the dry brush. I used a polarizer to increase saturation, and handheld a 2 stop Graduated ND filter to hold back the exposure of the sky. There was enough information in the file to bring out the detail in the tuff dragons and not loose the highlights in the sky. 1/20th sec, f/20, ISO 100, 31mm on a 16-35 zoom.
