Sea Stacks, Garrapata State – Park Big Sur, Ca

Description

I love the Big Sur area and living in California makes it easy to make it a photography destinations. What drew me to this spot were the water waves crashing on the Stacks and I did take some shots from higher up. However, I felt I could get a better composition being closer to the water and Stacks. The biggest challenge I had shooting this image was getting down to the water level. With my heavy backpack and Tripod it was hard work to climb down the slippery rocks. I shot the image with a wide angle lens very close to the water focusing on the foreground rocks. The image was captured less than 3/4 hour before sunset. I was hoping for the “perfect” shot closer to sunset but that day, the clouds covered the sun before sunset. I processed the RAW image with PS Lightroom, making minor adjustments to dampen some of the highlights and slightly strengthening the colors.
